It turns out the bee hive from yesterday is gone. The guy from the vector control district called and he hadn't been able to come down yesterday and by the time that he called today they had left. There was no hive underneath that mass of bee, it was just solid bees!

Two 4x8 Hanging Joists with Caps

I worked at the Morrell House again today. I worked a little bit on some of the electrical work, but most of the day I helped one of the contractors install two hanging joists. The joists are very big 4"x8"x12' or so. We hung them by a single bolt through the center of the joist. They are installed for earthquake proofing. The idea is they will prevent the wall that they are fastened to from rising because they connect to 5 other joists for support. After we got the joists hung, the contractor I was working with had to leave, so I cut and installed all the blocks you see here on top of the joists.

The rest of the people there worked on the handicapped ramp. The ramp has been cemented since I last worked here. They installed the initial posts for the railing around the ramp. Those posts will ultimately be wrapped with wood so you won't see any hardware.

It was a fun but tiring day working at the house.

This afternoon I worked on my Spitfire a little bit as well. I worked on the carburetor since it hadn't been starting well. I think I got the choke all sorted out. I also removed the heater valve and disconnected the heater. I had manually routed the hoses to the heater core in the winter time since the heater valve had frozen up. It turns out the heater valve was completely plugged up with dirt! It had become a filter and had caught all the dirt in the coolant! After that I washed and vacuumed the car. It will be nice to drive a clean car!

Tonight we had pizza for dinner and watched more of the first season of Alias that we have rented from Netflix. I really like this show!
